Signs You May Have a Slab Leak

Puddle on the Floor, Inside or Outside

Puddle on the Floor, Inside or Outside

One of the most common signs of a slab leak is a puddle on the floor. This puddle can grow larger over time as water bubbles up from underneath your slab. Look for puddles like bathrooms, kitchens, garages, closet floors, or laundry rooms. If you see a puddle, and it's not from an appliance, call us for slab leak detection.

Sky High Water Bill or Heating Bill

A sudden spike in your water or heating bill could indicate a slab leak. A hot water leak under your slab can cause your water heater to run constantly, driving up your heating costs. If you notice unexplained increases in your bills, it’s time to check for a slab leak.

Warped Wood Floors or Damp Carpet

Water from a slab leak often accumulates under your flooring. Watch for warped wood floors or damp, dark areas on your carpet, in closets, or creeping up baseboards. These signs indicate water damage from below and require immediate attention.

Hot Hardwood or Tile Floors

If your floors are suddenly warm and you haven't installed heated flooring, you might have a hot-side slab leak. This leak heats your floors from below, which can be costly. Check for hot spots, especially if your pets seem to lie on certain spots on cool days.

Low Water Pressure

Bad or Musty Smells

A slab leak can reduce water pressure throughout your home. If you notice a sudden drop in water pressure and you're not using water elsewhere, a slab leak could be the culprit.

Bad or Musty Smells

Bad or Musty Smells

Water from a slab leak can lead to mold and mildew growth, causing musty odors. If areas of your house start to smell musty, and you notice other signs of a slab leak, it's crucial to address the issue immediately. Mold is harmful to both your health and your home.

Wet Area on the Outside of the House

A wet area where the foundation and the siding or brick meet is another sign of a slab leak. Look for damp spots around the exterior of your home where water might be escaping from beneath the slab.

Why Choose Our Slab Leak Detection Services?

Advanced Technology

We use cutting-edge equipment to see, hear, and even smell leaks through your slab. This technology allows us to pinpoint leaks accurately, reducing the need for invasive exploration.

Minimally Invasive Techniques

Our "keyhole plumbing surgery" technique involves making small, strategic incisions to access and repair the leak. This method preserves the integrity of your home and ensures a quicker, cleaner repair process.

Experienced Professionals

Our team, led by a Master Plumber with specialized training, has extensive experience in slab leak detection and repair. We handle even the most challenging leaks efficiently and effectively.

The Plumbinator Process

Step 1: Schedule an Appointment

Step 2: Leak Detection and Estimate

Step 2: Leak Detection and Estimate

Call us at 512-786-1771 to schedule an appointment. We will bring our high-tech equipment to pinpoint the source of the leak. Water leak detection and location costs $550 for the first 90 minutes and $300 per hour after that. We find most plumbing leaks within the first 90 minutes.

Step 2: Leak Detection and Estimate

Step 2: Leak Detection and Estimate

Step 2: Leak Detection and Estimate

Our plumber will show you the location of the leak, discuss your options for repair or reroute of the pipes, and write you an estimate to fix the leak. The estimate will be a "per job" price, not an hourly rate, and is separate from the leak detection hourly fee.

Step 3: Leak Repair or Reroute

Step 2: Leak Detection and Estimate

Step 3: Leak Repair or Reroute

If you accept the price on the estimate, the leak can usually be rerouted through the walls and/or attic with new pipe so we can get you back to normal on that same day. We don’t normally break up slabs; we kill the old pipe and leave it dead in the slab.

Additional Information

Our slab leak detection service costs $550 for the first 90 minutes and $300 per hour thereafter. Most leaks are identified within the first 90 minutes. The estimate is a "per job" price, separate from the hourly detection fee.
